Davis/Macleod exists to support the next generation of business owners with patient capital, practical experience, and true alignment.

The firm represents the partnership between two families. The Macleod side brings an operator's perspective, shaped by years of building and exiting businesses from the ground up. The Davis side brings a multi-decade history of investing family capital, primarily in real estate, with a long-term, patient approach to ownership.

Together, that combination formed the foundation of Davis/Macleod: a platform designed to back entrepreneurial operators with aligned, long-duration capital.

Unlike traditional funds, we invest family capital alongside a small group of like-minded partners. We are not constrained by short fund cycles or institutional mandates. That allows us to focus on long-term value creation, support entrepreneurs through the inevitable challenges of ownership, and make decisions with a multi-decade mindset.

Our role is simple. We partner with talented, driven entrepreneurs who want to acquire and build enduring businesses. We provide capital, strategic guidance, and access to a network of operators and advisors, while giving management teams the autonomy to lead.

Blake Macleod

Blake Macleod

Blake Macleod is an entrepreneur and investor with a background in building, acquiring, and growing small businesses across North America.

He began his career as a founder, launching his first company shortly after college during the early days of e-commerce. Over the next decade, he built and operated consumer products businesses, developing expertise in customer acquisition, product development, overseas manufacturing, and direct-to-consumer distribution. He ultimately sold his primary operating company in 2018.

After the exit, Blake began exploring a different path to entrepreneurship: acquiring an established business instead of building one from scratch. In that process, he was introduced to the search fund model and began partnering with entrepreneurs acquiring small businesses across a range of industries. Working alongside operators through acquisitions and growth initiatives, he developed a conviction that the best outcomes come from aligned incentives, patient capital, and investors who understand the realities of running a business.

Today, Blake invests family capital, serves on the boards of portfolio companies, and works closely with searchers and management teams. His approach is shaped by firsthand operating experience and a long-term ownership mindset, with a focus on helping entrepreneurs build durable, cash-flowing businesses.

Our Values

01

Partnership First

We invest in people before businesses. The relationship between investor and operator is the foundation of everything we do. We earn trust through transparency and follow-through.

02

Permanent Mindset

We invest our own capital with the intent to hold indefinitely. This patience allows our CEOs to make decisions for the long term, not for the next quarterly report.

03

Community Impact

The businesses we invest in are community pillars — they employ local workers, serve local customers, and contribute to local economies. Stewardship of this responsibility matters to us.

Our Investment Strategies

01

Search Funds

We back aspiring entrepreneurs who raise capital to search for, acquire, and operate a privately held company. Originated at Stanford GSB in the 1980s, the search fund model has become one of the most reliable paths to entrepreneurship through acquisition. We provide capital at both the search and acquisition stages, and serve as mentors, board members, and strategic partners throughout the journey.

02

Direct Acquisitions

We acquire businesses directly when we find the right combination of a strong company and a proven operator. In these transactions, we provide the capital and strategic support while partnering with a CEO to lead the business day-to-day. This approach allows us to move quickly on opportunities that fit our criteria.

03

Co-Investments

We invest alongside like-minded partners and operators in deals that align with our thesis. Co-investments allow us to participate in a broader range of opportunities while maintaining the selectivity and alignment that define our approach. We look for partners who share our long-term orientation and commitment to building enduring businesses.
